angel’s trumpets, moonflowers, jimson weed, datura. there’s a long list of names for this seductress who’s grown exponentially this summer. surviving in our yard on just a bit of greywater, a prolific amount of buds peek through the arrowhead shaped leaves. just when i think, surely she’s spent, she blooms en masse again.
all varieties of datura are poisonous, and there’s a fortress of anthills and trails all around her long winding stems. stop- that’s close enough. all signs point to steer clear. yet, she’s utterly intoxicating and I can’t help but linger in late afternoons when her buxom white blooms reveal themselves.
